For the first time choosing an electric bicycle or electricoamocate for the first time, many are guided primarily not on its reliability and quality, but the price and set of options, and therefore quite often stop their choice on inexpensive folding solutions.

Today we will talk about one of these options — an ibalance electrospray, which looks like an electric bicycle, but does not have pedals.

After just the year of operation, the owner noticed that the reserve of the move declined sharply — on one charge, the scooter began to pass less than a kilometer.

The scooter battery is located inside the plastic case, in which the charger is also located with a cord — in principle, it is quite convenient — pulled out the cord and immediately connected it to a power outlet 220 V.

In order to get to the battery, and to work comfortably, you will have to remove the entire body from the scooter. But you first need to turn off the discharge connector from the controller, which is located in the housing of the rear light.

We unscrew the two screws and open the case — a pretty compact engine control controller appears before us.

The controller is designed for voltage 36 V and power of 350 W.

Disconnect the discharge connector, pull the wires from the frame tube, then unscrew the 6 casing mounting screws and remove it from the scooter.

Unscrew the screws and remove the housing cover. The battery fastening bracket holds only on the one hand — with another plastic fastening, it is broken, which, however, is not surprising, since it is rather slug.

And here is the charger — it connects directly to the battery.

Remove the battery and look at the label. Lithium-ion battery is collected from Samsung-22p cells according to the 10S3P scheme.

Errors have been brought in the words «Battery» and «Capacity» — probably it should also talk about the quality of the product.

We open the heat shrink and look inside. SAMSUNG 22P is really written on the cells, the question is only as you can believe these inscriptions, and whether these cells are fake.

Painting ribbon as an insulating material — not the best solution.

Check the voltage on the balancing connector — as many as 40 V, that is, the battery is almost charged, since the voltage of a fully charged battery on the nominal voltage of 36 V is 42 V.

We connect the balancing connector to the specialized charger and we give the load — in the end, just a couple of minutes, the voltage on the 2nd block of cells fell by 0.5 more than the rest.

That is, this unit is discharged first, and the battery control board (BMS) turns off the load, while the remaining cells of the cells remain charged.

We find the faulty 2nd block and we mark the three cells in it. Samsung 22p, in accordance with the specification, have a capacity of 2150 mAh, and when replacing it is necessary to use cells the same, or greater tank.

Since the elements are interconnected by a thermoclaim, they are quite easy to disconnect. Faulty cells replace on DLG cells 3000 mAh — cells of a smaller capacity at hand did not turn out.

After assembly, charge the battery, equalize the voltages on the cells and discharge through the wattmeter to determine the container. The result was only 3 Ah, against the declared 6.6 Ah. Why so little?

Tracking voltages on the balancing connector showed that now when the BMS discharges the load on other cell blocks. That is, in fact, in order to obtain an acceptable container, you can continue to repair this battery to the full replacement of all items, or, in other words, it is easier to collect a new battery.

It is also noticed that when discharge, the battery is quite warm, and therefore cells have quite high internal resistance. Heating leads to accelerated degradation of cells, internal resistance increases even more and so on — it turns out a vicious circle.

Why it happens? Let’s look at the SAMSUNG 22P cell specification. The maximum current of the long discharge was declared 10 A.

In our case, with the power of 350 W and voltage 36, the discharge current obtains 9.7 A, but it is three cells in the block, that is, the load on one cell is only about 3.2 A, which is three times less than the maximum permissible.

The only explanation of such rapidly degradation of the battery can be the use of non-original cells. Since the original Samsung cells are quite expensive, in order to minimize the cost of the product, some unscrupulous manufacturers resort to such tricks.

What to do in the current situation? The owner decided to exploit the battery «to the last» using the remaining 3 responses, and then order the assembly of a new battery from high-quality cells.

In pursuit of low prices, there is a danger of «throwing out money to the wind», buying electrical sinks with a battery from non-original cells, which will serve only one season.

In addition, compact cheap scooters often have a variety of folding elements that, over time, begin to be peeled, which adversely affected by manageability. And this, in turn, can lead to fall and injury. Take care of yourself.
