Today there will be a review of the donor-based e-bike

Designed for 29-inch wheels for increased ride comfort. The bike comes with Shimano Deore XT derailleurs, Shimano M615 hydraulic brakes, Rockshox Reba fork and Continental Race King 29 x 2.2 tires.

As the heart of the electrical equipment, a CYC X1 Pro Gen2 central motor from CYC MOTOR was purchased for installation on the bike. Its weight is 3.5 kg (including the controller).

The motor is designed for a rated voltage range of 36 V to 72 V. When operating at 72 V, the rated power is 5 kW. In our case, 60 V equipment was used, so the power turned out to be about 4.25 kW.

For a high-quality installation of the engine, it took two parts from anodized aluminum, and that’s what it is for.

During installation, it turned out that the thread in the overrunning clutch of the carriage is too short, therefore, during assembly, it cut off the thread of one of the bolts. In this regard, an additional detail was made to organize a reliable fastening (on the right in the photo).

The second part (pictured on the left) is also made of aluminum, anodized black, and is designed to mount the engine to the lower tube of the frame.

The connection of the power wires between the motor and the controller is made on the XT150 connectors, which are hidden behind the sidewalls when the motor falls into place.

On the outside, both on the controller and on the engine, radiator fins are located to ensure the necessary cooling of the equipment during operation.

The engine comes with special belts for attaching it to the lower frame tube through the grooves of the side walls, but in this case, to increase reliability, a special aluminum clamp was made, which I wrote about above. In order not to damage the paintwork of the frame, a transparent armor film is laid under the clamp.

An interesting decision of the manufacturer was to make the engine cover transparent so that the rotor windings could be seen through it.

And this is how the engine looks from the other side. The overrunning clutch is visible on the carriage assembly (left). It is necessary so that the pedals do not rotate with the engine when the cyclist presses the throttle stick.

From the back of the freewheel, the same additional aluminum part is visible, to which the stars will be attracted (not to be confused with show business stars).

The stars are set. The torque will be transmitted through the chain from the engine to one star, and then from the second star, through the second chain — to the wheel.

To protect the chain from dirt and dust, as well as from the ingress of foreign objects and the legs of cyclists, a decorative overlay is installed on top.

To power such a powerful motor, a quick-detachable battery with a nominal voltage is installed on the bike.

The weight of the electric bike without a battery turned out to be only 17 kg, and with a battery, as you already understood from the title of the article, 26 kg. The battery is made of high-current cells, its body is made of monolithic polycarbonate and composite materials.
